In what was an emotional pregame scene for Senior Night, the Kentucky Wildcats came to play, racing past the LSU Tigers with a dominant 95-64 victory. Heading into the game, this was considered a must-win for Kentucky, especially against a shorthanded LSU squad. Head coach Mark Pope saw his team return to their signature style of basketball, putting on a high-powered offensive display that secured a crucial win at Rupp Arena.
The Wildcats had gone 11 games without hitting the 90-point mark, but that drought ended emphatically on Tuesday night. Kentucky played at a fast pace and spaced the floor well, leading to 95 points on 75 possessions (1.27 points per possession). The offensive efficiency was remarkable, as the team shot 61.5% from two-point range (24-of-39), 37.5% from three (12-of-32), and a perfect 100% from the free-throw line (11-of-11).
Turnovers were kept in check, with the Wildcats committing just eight giveaways, while also dishing out an impressive 22 assists. Otega Oweh led the scoring with 24 points on just 11 field goal attempts, while Ansley Almonor (15 points), Brandon Garrison (15 points), and Collin Chandler (11 points) also contributed double-digit performances. Bench production was a key factor, with Kentucky’s reserves chipping in 43 points. The Wildcats also dominated inside, scoring 38 points off dunks and layups.
Defensive struggles had plagued Kentucky in recent outings, but they tightened things up against LSU. The Tigers were limited to 64 points on 72 possessions (0.89 points per possession) and shot just 27.3% from beyond the arc. The Wildcats defended without fouling and kept LSU from finding a rhythm from three-point range, areas that had been weaknesses in their last three games.
LSU’s offense struggled to keep up, committing turnovers at a rate of 22.2%, leading to 18 points off turnovers for Kentucky. The Tigers finished the night shooting 55.5% from two (20-of-36) but struggled from deep and the free-throw line, making just 6-of-22 three-pointers and 6-of-10 free throws.

Kentucky wasted no time asserting dominance, jumping out to an early lead and taking a commanding 50-23 advantage into halftime—their largest halftime lead of the season. Oweh had a particularly impressive first half, scoring nine straight points at one point and finishing the game with eight rebounds and three assists.
Although the Wildcats cooled off slightly in the second half, they continued to control the game. Former Wildcat Daimion Collins, now playing for LSU, had a quiet return to Rupp Arena, finishing with two points, five rebounds, and three blocks.
With the win, Kentucky moves one step closer to securing a strong NCAA Tournament seed. The Wildcats will wrap up the regular season on Saturday with a road matchup against the Missouri Tigers. Tipoff is set for noon ET in Columbia, with the game set to be broadcast on ESPN and the UK Sports Radio Network. Kentucky will look to build on this dominant performance and carry the momentum into postseason play.
