Labaron Philon was not afraid to back his Alabama Crimson Tide teammate Aden Holloway in a recent interview.
Philon was on a recent episode of "The Next Round" and discussed Holloway's return to Neville Arena, the home of in-state rival Auburn Tigers.
Holloway started his college basketball career with the Tigers in the 2023-2024 season. After one season with Auburn, he transferred to Alabama. Holloway averaged 7.3 points, 1.5 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game at Auburn.
Now at Alabama, Holloway has set a career high in points (11.3) and assists per game (2).
Alabama beat Auburn 93-91 at Neville Arena, with Mark Sears hitting a buzzer beater in overtime. Philon was asked if there was any anxiety for Holloway returning to Auburn.
Philon said that the team rallied around him, making them closer.
"Nah, I don't think so," Philon said. "He's built for it. All the guys on our team, we would tell him, 'You just gotta play your game. Don't get too anxious.' Like, go out there and shoot the basketball. Go out and do what you do. We know you can shoot the basketball. It brought us together most likely because, you know, just going into their place, we had to stick together and just play for one another."
Philon is in his first year with Alabama after being a member of the 2024 class. He was a four-star point guard and the No. 6 player at his position in the On3 Industry Rankings.
Philon is already making his mark on the Crimson Tide as a true freshman, averaging 10.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game.
