Mark Few has a long history of playing two point guards together. Gonzaga's two national championship appearances featured lineups with a pair of point guards - Nigel Williams-Goss and Josh Perkins in 2016-17 and Jalen Suggs and Andrew Nembhard in 2020-21.
So it shouldn't be much of a surprise to hear Few indicate Gonzaga's newest addition, Spanish guard Mario Saint-Supery, could share the floor with presumed starting point guard Braeden Smith in Spokane this upcoming season.
Few was asked about Saint-Supery's role while taking in NBA Summer League action in Las Vegas over the weekend, and he made it clear the 19-year-old isn't coming stateside to ride the bench.
“Mario's going to play," Few told Theo Lawson of the Spokesman-Review. "He's played a lot for a kid his age and at a high level over there. He's big enough to kind of play off the ball, but he's a true point guard."

Saint-Supery has been scouted as a pass first point guard, even drawing some optimistic comparisons to Spanish legend Ricky Rubio. However, his 6'4 frame and athleticism should allow him to play both on and off the ball in coach Few's high-octane system which features tons of ball movement and encourages craftiness and creativity at every position.
Gonzaga added a pair of transfer guards this offseason in Adam Miller and Tyon Grant-Foster from Arizona State and Grand Canyon, respectively, bringing them into a mix that already included Smith, redshirt transfer Jalen Warley from Virginia, returners Steele Venters and Emmanuel Innocenti, and incoming freshman wing Davis Fogle.
On paper it looks like Miller and Grant-Foster will soak up most of the minutes on the wing, with Warley and Innocenti on hand as depth options and Venters potentially playing a small ball four role. However, Saint-Supery could push his way into a significant role this season if he proves capable of learning the offense quickly after not arriving on campus until late June.
A first look at Saint-Supery, Grant-Foster, and Miller will take place at Kraziness in the Kennel on October 4 in Spokane.
