Former Iowa State basketball star Milan Momcilovic has made his decision to withdraw his name from the 2026 NBA Draft, and instead return to college basketball. However, it’s not likely that Momcilovic will be returning to Iowa State, according to Cyclone Fanatic.

Momcilovic now becomes the most sought-after player on the market in college basketball. Kentucky, Louisville and St. John’s have long been involved, and Arizona has been recruiting Momcilovic for a few weeks in anticipation of forward Koa Peat remaining in the NBA draft, ESPN confirmed. Momcilovic had until Wednesday night at midnight to decide whether or not he would stay in the NBA Draft.

Momcilovic is coming off a highly efficient season in which he averaged 16.9 points per game while shooting 50.6% from the field and an eye-popping 48.6% from three-point range. He did well going through NBA Draft workouts, finishing fifth in both the spot-up shooting and off-the-dribble shooting drills in Chicago, knocking down 17-25 spot-up attempts and 22-30 off-the-dribble shots. He also placed sixth in the side-mid-side drill at 16-of-28 and finished tied for first in free throws after going 10-10.

In Momcilovic’s three seasons in Ames, Iowa State won 83 games and made two Sweet 16 appearances.

However, with a likely seven-figure contract awaiting him in the college ranks, returning for a year, and then guaranteeing himself a likely first-round grade in 2027 makes sense for Momcilovic. In the NBA Draft, scond-round picks are not guaranteed contracts and often sign two-way or non-guaranteed deals.

As rules currently stand, Momcilovic has one year of eligibility remaining. However, if the NCAA moves ahead with its “five in five” rule, he could have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
