For months, irrespective of the conversation, the 2026 NBA Draft conversation has largely centered around BYU star AJ Dybantsa and Kansas guard Darryn Peterson as the favorites to be selected with the first two picks.

However, Duke standout Cameron Boozer may be receiving far more attention from NBA front offices than public projections suggest.

According to DraftExpress founder Jonathan Givony, Boozer is firmly in the conversation at the very top of draft boards. Speaking on The Herd, Givony revealed that NBA analytics departments overwhelmingly view the Duke forward as the best prospect in the class.

“If you talk to the analytics people in NBA front offices, 100 percent of them have Cam Boozer at No. 1 at the top of their draft model,” Givony said.

Boozer backed up the hype during his lone season at Duke. The 18-year-old averaged 22.5 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game while shooting 55.6% from the field and 39.1% from three-point range.

However, Givony only had good things to add to his statement.

“I think he’s going to be a 20-and-10 guy from day one, and I think he’s even going to make a run, potentially, at being an All-Star as a rookie,” he added. “Teams drafting him at 1 and 2 are giving him a hard look in this draft even though that might not be the public sentiment.”

Additionally, his dominant campaign earned him the Naismith College Player of the Year award and helped Duke secure the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament. What makes the power forward especially appealing to evaluators is his consistency.

Los Angeles Clippers Must Be Praying For Different Outcome For Cam Boozer

With the 2026 NBA Draft approaching, the top of the board appears largely set. Most projections have AJ Dybantsa, Darryn Peterson, Boozer, and Caleb Wilson coming off the board in the first four picks, leaving the Los Angeles Clippers on the outside looking in.

That is exactly why Clippers fans are hoping for some unexpected draft-night chaos. Talent evaluators and scouts view Boozer as a potential franchise cornerstone after he emerged as one of the most highly regarded prospects in this class.

While the Memphis Grizzlies and Chicago Bulls are both expected to have strong interest in the Duke star, the unpredictability of the NBA Draft always leaves room for surprises.

For Los Angeles, a Cameron Boozer slide would be close to a dream scenario. What makes Boozer so appealing is the completeness of his game. At 6-foot-8 and 253 pounds, he combines strength, scoring ability, passing vision, and floor spacing in a way few prospects can.

He can create his own shot, operate in the post, stretch defenses from three-point range, and impact the game as a playmaker. Many scouts view him as one of the safest prospects in the draft, with the potential to become a first option at the NBA level.
