The loss snapped Iowa State's 29-game home winning streak, which was the second-longest streak in program history. The win was Kansas State's first in a true road environment all season and first since Jan. 9 of last season. According to ESPN college basketball insider Jeff Borzello, Kansas State is the first sub-.500 team to beat a top-five opponent on the road by at least 15 points in AP poll history.
Iowa State could not slow down the Wildcats throughout the game. Kansas State shot 44.8 percent from the field and 10-of-20 from behind the arc. Iowa State also got outrebounded, 39-29, which only made matters worse.
All five Kansas State starters scored in double figures. The Wildcats (10-11, 4-6 Big 12) have won three in a row after losing nine of their last 10. With the balanced production it got on Saturday in a place that is difficult to win, Kansas State is showing that it can compete with the best teams in the conference.
Despite getting outscored 21-4 to start the second half, Iowa State went on a 13-0 run, capped off by senior guard Keshon Gilbert's transition layup and subsequent three-point play with 10:05 to play.

Kansas State answered and ultimately pulled away to get the huge road upset. Junior guard Tamin Lipsey (20 points) led the Cyclones. Their two leading scorers this season, senior guard Curtis Jones (14 points, 4-of-15 FG) and Gilbert (eight points, 3-of-9 FG), struggled to find their rhythm.
Iowa State (17-4, 7-3 Big 12) has dropped three of its last five games after starting the season 15-1. A concerning trend in the last two losses has been the inconsistency on defense. After allowing at least 80 points in those two losses, Iowa State will need to get back to the strong defense it is accustomed to with a road trip to Allen Fieldhouse to face current No. 11 Kansas on Monday.
