As most college basketball programs have their rosters pretty much set for summer workouts, ESPN’s Joe Lunardi released his latest bracketology projections last week. Lunardi has nine Big 12 teams in line to make a run for the NCAA Tournament.
Kansas – 1 seed
Houston – 1 seed
Iowa State – 2 seed
Arizona – 3 seed
Baylor – 3 seed
Cincinnati – 5 seed
Texas Tech – 5 seed
BYU – 9 seed
Kansas State – 9 seed
Lunardi does not have West Virginia in his tournament field or on the bubble. WVU is entering its first season under head coach Darian DeVries from Drake. DeVries and his new staff completely flipped the roster as they only return rising sophomore Ofri Naveh. West Virginia brings top transfers Tucker DeVries (F – Drake) and Javon Small (G – Oklahoma State) to lead the way with other adds being Sencire Harris (G – Illinois), Amani Hansberry (F – Illinois), Toby Okani (F – UIC), Eduardo Andre (C – Fresno State), Joseph Yesufu (G – Washington State), Jayden Stone (G – Detroit Mercy), Jonathan Powell (2024 G), KJ Tenner (2024 G) and Dalton Jay (2024 G).
There are a lot of changes in Big 12 basketball for the 2024-25 season. The conference officially adds Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado and Utah this summer while losing Oklahoma and Texas to the SEC. The Big 12 will also move to a 20-game conference schedule, making the already grueling slate even harder.
