Solo Ball and the Connecticut Huskies were a determined team under head coach Dan Hurley during the 2025-26 men’s college basketball season. After going 34-6, including 17-3 in Big East Conference play, UConn received a No. 2 seed in the East Region of the 2026 NCAA Tournament.

Ball was tremendous for the Huskies all season. The former top-50 recruit in the 2023 class averaged 28.4 minutes per game, tied for second on the team with guard Silas Demary Jr., behind forward Alex Karaban’s 34.3. The Brewster Academy High School graduate averaged 12.8 points per game, 3.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists, while shooting an impressive 85.2% from the free-throw line.

Connecticut provided an unforgettable moment in March Madness when Braylon Mullins drained a game-winning 3-pointer against the Duke Blue Devils to secure a Final Four bid against the Illinois Fighting Illini. The Huskies’ dreams fell just short of a championship with a 69-63 loss to Elliot Cadeau and the Michigan Wolverines in the national title game.

Ball was uncertain for the championship game after an injury sustained against Illinois. Despite limited action (16 minutes) against Michigan, Ball performed well, scoring 11 points on 4-of-10 shooting, including 3-of-7 from behind the arc.

It appears Ball is dealing with another, more serious injury this offseason. On Monday, Joe Tipton reported that Ball will miss the entire 2026-27 men’s college basketball season. The 6-foot-4 guard will use his medical redshirt to recover from wrist surgery.

“UConn guard Solo Ball is undergoing wrist surgery and will miss the 2026-27 season as a medical redshirt,” Tipton wrote on Instagram. “Per release, the 6-foot-4 junior averaged 12.8 PPG this season.”

Ball hopes to recover from the wrist injury and rejoin Hurley and his squad for the 2027-28 season.
