After a thrilling 2024–25 season that has reignited excitement for St. John's basketball in New York City, the offseason has also been a successful one.
The Red Storm continue to make headlines in the transfer portal. Although the portal officially closed for new entries on Tuesday night, many college basketball players are still searching for homes for the 2025–26 season.
On Wednesday afternoon, news broke about a player that Rick Pitino and his staff have been pursuing in the portal.
Zach Braziller of the New York Post shared an update on one of Pitino's 2025-2026 targets: "St Johns is currently hosting guard Dylan Darling of Idaho State, source confirms. Big Sky Player of the Year. #sjubb".

Darling began his college basketball career at Washington State, where he spent two seasons with the Cougars.
A standout in high school, he played in Spokane, Washington, and earned MVP honors in the Greater Spokane League as a senior, averaging an impressive 33.2 points per game. After his time at Washington State, Darling transferred to Idaho State.
Last season, he had a monster year for the Bengals. He played in 28 games and averaged 19.8 points per game. Darling also grabbed 3.4 rebounds and handed out 5.7 assists per contest.
His final game with Idaho State came in the third round of the Big Sky Championship, where he scored 16 points in an 80–60 loss. He was red-hot at the end of the season, including a 34-point outburst in an 82–79 loss to Northern Arizona.
It has been a very busy offseason for Pitino and the Red Storm. Ian Jackson transferred from North Carolina, and on Wednesday, Dillon Mitchell announced his decision to play at St. John's. Bryce Hopkins, Joson Sanon, and Oziyah Sellers round out the group of transfers committed to St. John's.
