Top Transfer Portal Target Sets Insane $4M NIL Price Tag

One of the most productive players in college basketball is now one of the most talked-about names in the transfer portal.

According to Jeff Goodman of The Field of 68, Memphis guard PJ Haggerty is not only looking for a new home—but his camp is asking for a massive price tag.

Goodman reported that Haggerty is asking for more than $4 million in NIL compensation and the promise of playing the majority of his minutes at point guard.

Haggerty is coming off a monster redshirt sophomore season for the Tigers, where he established himself as one of the nation’s top offensive threats.

He averaged 21.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.8 steals per game while shooting 47.6% from the field and 36.4% from three.

He led Memphis in scoring, assists, and steals, and finished third nationally in scoring, behind only Villanova’s Eric Dixon (23.0) and Northern Arizona’s Trenton McLaughlin (22.1).

It’s no surprise Haggerty is drawing interest—his ability to score at all three levels and generate offense both on and off the ball makes him a coveted target. But the reported asking price, combined with a desired role as a lead guard, adds a layer of complexity for potential suitors.

The point guard expectation may come as a surprise to some programs that view him as more of a combo or scoring guard.

Still, in a portal era where high-profile players are setting new market standards, Haggerty’s ask is bold—but not without precedent.

Whether a school is willing to meet both demands remains to be seen.
