For the first time in a while Washington can say it's undefeated on the hardwood against in-state basketball programs it has on the schedule with a 16th straight victory against Seattle University at home Monday night.
The Huskies (8-3, 0-2 Big Ten) are fresh off back-to-back wins against Eastern Washington and Washington State in the month of December, and look to make three straight against the Redhawks at Alaska Airlines Arena after escaping Climate Pledge Arena last season with a 100-99 double-overtime victory under former coach Mike Hopkins.
One thing Hopkins did in his final season — aside from beating Seattle U — was take down Gonzaga and coach Mark Few for the first time since 2005-06.
First-year coach Danny Sprinkle elected not to keep the Bulldogs on the schedule in 2024-25, meaning UW won't be able to claim a true sweep if it beats Seattle U on Monday.
The Redhawks (4-8) come to Hec Ed on a two-game losing streak having lost to Western Kentucky (86-73) and University of Illinois Chicago (79-68).
In all three defeats in December against WKU, ICU and UTEP, Seattle U allowed its opponents to shoot over 50 percent from the floor, something UW aims to replicate after achieving that feat against both EWU and WSU.
Senior forward Great Osobor leads the Huskies averaging 14 points. 8.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game over his first 11 games at UW.
