Wisconsin Badgers Fan Favorite Hopes to Turn ’25-26 Euro Contract Into Big NBA Shot
Wisconsin Badgers Fan Favorite Hopes to Turn '25-26 Euro Contract Into Big NBA Shot 1 Wisconsin guard Kamari McGee (4) and Oregon guard Jackson Shelstad (3) vie for the ball during the first half of their game Saturday, February 22, 2025 at the Kohl Center in Madison, Wisconsin.

Another former Wisconsin Badgers basketball player has announced his overseas signing which brings the off-season total up to three.

Kamari McGee, a former Green Bay standout who transferred to Madison, announced he has signed with KK Jahorina of the top Bosnian basketball league. Bosnia has not been a top landing spot overseas for many but has been a lucrative developmental league.

Former Michigan Wolverines forward LaVell Blanchard spent time in Bosnia at the height of his career and put together one of his best seasons in the league. In the past, Bosnia has served as a trampoline for players such as Blanchard and others still in need of development before reaching the highest levels.

Last season, KK Jahorina finished sixth in the league with a record of 13-11 with a roster that had two former NCAA players. Guards Pat Robinson III and Barlow Alleruzzo IV played for the team but left during the off-season alongside eight other players.

Former Wisconsin Badgers Guard Kamari McGee Aims to Follow in Nigel Hayes-Davis’ Footsteps

For McGee, interest in playing in the G-League was there, but actually managing to be on the court, playing, and developing was not guaranteed. Former Wisconsin Badgers Steven Crowl is trying to make the NBA through the G-League, while McGee has decided to follow a different path.

Fellow former Badger Nigel Hayes-Davis notably turned an incredibly successful overseas career into a lucrative NBA deal this off-season. Hayes is one of the first Americans to travel overseas and return to the NBA in arguably a better place than he left. The forward departed the NBA after a brief stint with the Sacramento Kings in 2018 before Galatasaray of the Turkish league.

Hayes-Davis won the Turkish league (twice), Lithuanian league (twice), and the EuroLeague (once) during eight seasons of work.

Hayes-Davis proved that with enough success overseas, not only can plenty of money be made but the NBA will come calling. McGee is someone who is in a similar position as some potential avenues into the G-League exist, but finding a way to stick is another question. Entering Bosnia with the same tenacity and high-energy play from Wisconsin will be a positive move for the future of McGee.
