LSU Tigers guard Flau’jae Johnson continues to show she’s more than just a college basketball star. As she prepares for her final season under head coach Kim Mulkey, she’s also making major moves in the music industry, continuing to grow her brand and artistic influence.
Johnson, who chose to return to LSU for one more season, is an accomplished rapper signed with Roc Nation. Her music career has been created and grown by a desire to honor her late father’s legacy through lyrics and performances.
On Friday, she announced the release of her latest track on Instagram, simply writing:
“Out now!!”
The song, titled "Remember When," holds special meaning for Johnson. She shared her thoughts with fans on Instagram:
“This one’s personal. 100. For my family, my fans (y’all ARE family), and for my pops, his legacy lives through every bar I spit. For those of you who remember when I was that little girl on America’s Got Talent, The Rap Game...”
She continued:
“My first season at LSU, first brand deal, first award show, first time performing for a sold-out crowd, my first time buying land—just know, we came a long way. I’m still her, just elevated. I’m the Don Daughter. Always have been. Always will be. Remember When out Friday, 6/6!!”
On the basketball side, Johnson continues to shine. She averaged a career-best 18.6 points and pulled down 5.6 rebounds per game last season. The Tigers made it to the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight but were knocked out by UCLA in a 72-65 loss. Johnson was a standout in that game, putting up 28 points in 37 minutes.
Before LSU, Johnson was a 2022 McDonald’s All-American. In her freshman year, she helped the Tigers win the national title and earned a spot on the SEC All-Freshman Team.
Last season, she was named first team All-SEC but missed the SEC Tournament due to shin inflammation.
As Johnson enters her final college season, she’s proving you can pursue excellence in more than one arena, on the court and behind the mic.
