South Carolina Gamecocks basketball head coach Dawn Staley donned a luxurious four-figure jacket for Sunday’s national championship game against the UCLA Bruins.
Sunday was a disappointing performance all-around for Dawn Staley’s squad. South Carolina proved no match for UCLA, which cruised to a 79-51 blowout victory to win the first national championship in the Bruins women’s program’s history.
Staley had coached the Gamecocks to national championships in 2017, 2022 and 2024. Winning it all again would have been a bonus, but a fourth title in nine years would have cemented their status as one of the all-time great dynasties in the NCAA.
Before the championship game, cameras showed Staley entering with a luxurious Balenciaga jacket.

At Grailed.com, Staley’s Balenciaga jacket costs a whopping $2,330.
Of course, with a salary of more than $4 million annually, Staley can easily afford top-of-the-line jackets like that.
Athletes who’ve won championships at the highest level frequently talk about the desire to win another. Once you reach the mountaintop for the first time, you can’t wait to get back.
So, the average fan might not feel bad for a South Carolina team that won three titles over a seven-year period. But for Staley and the program, it’s difficult to stomach consecutive national championship losses.
They were also blown out in last year’s national title game, losing 82-59 to the UConn Huskies. Three titles in seven years is nothing to scoff at. But five championships in nine years would look a whole lot better.
