Those who want to watch the Iowa Hawkeyes’ showdown with the South Carolina Gamecocks in the national championship game on Sunday will have to prepare big time.
After all, based on the latest information, ticket prices for the game are ridiculously high.
According to the latest reports, the cheapest ticket for the Hawkeyes vs. Gamecocks battle costs around $500.
Per TickPick, the cheapest ones were at $555 in the wake of Iowa securing the finals berth, via DunkCentral. Then just hours later, Amanda Christovich of Front Office Sports reported that Gametime data revealed how prices have increased to $586 apiece.
In comparison, men’s finals tickets are at $225 each. Of course the prices for the men’s tickets are expected to increase more once the Final showdown is set. Nonetheless, there’s no denying that there is plenty of interest in the women’s game right now.
Sure enough, it’s not a surprise why a lot of people are interested in the Iowa Hawkeyes versus South Carolina Gamecocks meeting. After all, there is plenty to watch, not to mention the star power that both teams bring.
On one side, you have the dominant Gamecocks who remain undefeated with a 37-0 record entering the national championship. Led by the genius of Dawn Staley and WNBA-bound star Kamilla Cardoso, the Gamecocks have wreaked havoc in the NCAA Tournament.
In the five games they have played so far, they have a winning margin of 26.8 points. Aside from their four-point victory over Indiana Hoosiers, they have comfortable won their other games by double digits–with the biggest one coming in the first round with a 52-point beating of Presbyterian Blue Hose.
On the other hand, you have the Iowa Hawkeyes led by America’s favorite and media darling Caitlin Clark. Of course, Clark isn’t someone just hyped up by the media. She’s the real deal, as she has proven throughout the competition.
Clark is the NCAA all-time leading scorer regardless of gender, and there’s no denying that she’s the most dangerous offensive weapon there is. The UConn Huskies and LSU Tigers learned that the hard way.
Everybody wants to see Clark play, and that much is proven as they continue to make TV records in every game they play in the tournament.
With that being said, even with the ridiculously expensive tickets, don’t expect it to turn off people. The Iowa-South Carolina game should be sold out come Sunday.
