Kim Mulkey Goes Viral With Blunt Response to Retirement Rumor

The LSU Tigers may have met an unpleasant roadblock for this season, but a retirement rumor? Well, Kim Mulkey put’em in the right place with her response.

If the Tigers’ 87-85 Sweet 16 deficit from the Duke Blue Devils wasn’t bad enough, that too for not being able to block a buzzer-beater 3-pointer, there’s a whole buzz about the coach’s retirement. So, a blunt reply was incoming.

“I’m not retiring. Do I look that bad? I’ve never, ever told anybody that.” Mulkey said. “I don’t get how people can just write c*** on social media… If you know who they are, you need to stop it when you see it. Because it’s just a flat-out lie.”

After 21 seasons at Baylor, Mulkey joined the Tigers in 2021 as the head coach. Widely recognised for her fiery “no-nonsense” personality, she led LSU to its first national title in 2023. However, that was the 4th of her career.

And not only is Mulkey staying, but she’s also planning to “hire two coaches quickly, get in the portal and get two or three more players.” But all the while we know her plan, there’s also intel on who was behind it all.

Who Was Behind Coach Mulkey’s Retirement Rumour?

While the Tigers’ coach made it very clear that she has “no clue where that stuff comes from”, she knows that “older people especially believe” these. It’s unclear how much the journalists helped to remove this rumour, but there’s a name.

It was circulated by Tyler Daigle, someone online who claims to be an LSU insider. He wrote, “Kim Mulkey is retiring from coaching. This will be announced after LSU’s run this year.” He even mentioned an account ‘@BsSports365’, where more updates will be shared.

But as Mulkey said, such people just spread flat-out lies and “get away with it”, while others tend to believe such news. However, it has nothing to do with reality, and Mulkey joked that she’s “gonna be in this game unless LSU fires” her.
