Flau’jae Johnson is heading into the 2025-26 college basketball season as one of the biggest names in the sport. The LSU guard will be entering her fourth season in Baton Rouge and is expected to play a major role for the Tigers once again.
Over her three seasons, Johnson has played in 106 games and averaged 14.8 points per game. Last season, she increased her production to 18.6 points per game.
Johnson is competing for Team USA at the 2025 FIBA Women's AmeriCup. In a dominant 110-44 win over the Dominican Republic on Friday, she impressed in 20 minutes of action, scoring 16 of her game-high 22 points in the second half.
After the game, Johnson reflected on the team’s performance.
“I was just excited to be running out there,” she said. “I kind of got a feel for the game and how physical and aggressive we had to be in order to play against them, and I think we did pretty good.”
Johnson also had seven rebounds and four steals, and LSU head coach Kim Mulkey showed her support by posting red, white and blue hearts on social media and tagging her star guard.

Johnson led Team USA in scoring, and Notre Dame star Hannah Hidalgo was next with 17 points. After the win, Team USA head coach Kara Lawson praised her team’s depth and flexibility.
“That’s been the story for us through this tournament. We’ve had different players step up throughout each game,” Lawson said. “We’re definitely going to utilize our depth and need that to continue if we want to keep advancing.”
Team USA will now face Canada in Santiago, Chile, in the semifinals. The other semifinal matchup will feature Brazil against Argentina.
Mulkey, entering her fifth season with LSU, has built the Tigers into a national power. She’s won 122 games during her tenure, including a national championship in 2023. Johnson was a freshman on that title-winning team, playing alongside Angel Reese, who is now in her second WNBA season with the Chicago Sky.
The Tigers have reached the Elite Eight in each of the last two seasons, and Johnson’s leadership will be key to another deep tournament run.
