Mikaylah Williams Sends Clear Message to New LSU Transfer

As summer workouts loom, excitement is building around the new LSU Tigers women's basketball roster addition: forward Amiya Joyner, who announced her intention to join LSU after three standout seasons with the East Carolina Pirates.

Over three seasons at ECU, Joyner averaged 12.8 points and 9.6 rebounds per game while amassing 905 career rebounds, the fourth-highest total in program history, and ranking fourth in career blocks with 132.

Last season, Joyner led the Pirates in both scoring (15.0 points per game) and rebounding (9.2 rpg), notching 41 career double-doubles and First-Team All-AAC honors in 2024-25.

On Friday, Joyner posted on X with the caption, "See ya tmrw, 225! ," hinting at the start of fall preparations at LSU’s Pete Maravich Assembly Center (PMAC).

Less than 24 hours later, LSU guard Mikaylah Williams, fresh off a First-Team All-SEC nod, sent her a two-word welcome: “welcome homeeee .”

Williams, a 6-foot guard out of Bossier City, Louisiana, has emerged as one of the premier young talents in women’s college basketball.

After earning SEC Freshman of the Year and All-Freshman Team honors in 2023-24, she elevated her game in the 2024-25 season, averaging 17.3 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game while shooting 46.5 percent from the field, 38.6 percent from deep and 85.8 percentr from the free-throw line.

Williams also received First-Team All-SEC recognition in 2025, joining an elite group of Tigers to earn that distinction.

The Tigers closed the 2024-25 women's college basketball season with a 31-6 overall record and a 12-4 mark in SEC play, earning a No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament before bowing out in the Elite Eight to the UCLA Bruins.

Under head coach Kim Mulkey, LSU has built a national powerhouse, capturing the 2023 NCAA title and posting a 122-20 record since 2021, including 52-11 in conference play.
