It wasn't easy, but No. 1 South Carolina walked out of Baton Rouge undefeated at 18-0, following a 76-70 come-from-behind win over No. 9 LSU.
Perhaps sensing the tension left over after the final whistle, Gamecocks head coach, Dawn Staley, lightened the mood. When a reporter suggested that the crowd at Pete Maravich Assembly Center "wasn't nice," she flipped the tables, offering the LSU faithful a humorous compliment.
"Actually, they were," Staley said. "They were calling me 'boo.'"

Tigers fans had plenty to be cranky about as they saw their team blow a double-digit first-half lead before watching it dwindle to nothing with under a minute to go.
LSU was in control early, leading by as many as 11 in the second quarter. However, South Carolina entered the halftime break with momentum, cutting the deficit to only five, 41-36. After being kept at arm's length for most of the second half, the Gamecocks eventually took the lead for good with 1:14 left after a massive three-pointer by Bree Hall.

Before Thursday's matchup, LSU head coach Kim Mulkey said neither she nor Staley would " out coach " one another when their teams met on the hardwood. However, in the deciding moments, she displayed questionable timeout usage, allowed star Angel Reese to foul out with four minutes to go, losing her for the stretch run, and failed to adjust to South Carolina's pressure.
Following the loss, Mulkey chalked up the disappointing result to inexperience. Yet, she wasn't nearly as chipper as Staley, telling reporters she didn't believe in "moral victories."
"We had opportunities to win this game, and we didn't," Mulkey said via Reed Darcey of The Advocate.
