Jerzy Robinson has made it clear what she expects from her college career, and she believes Dawn Staley is the right coach to get her there. The South Carolina commit, and McDonald’s All-American, said she that she is heading to Columbia to become the best she can be after Team West’s recent 91-71 loss.
Robinson, the lone USC commit selected for the 2026 McDonald’s All-American Game, is part of a three-player class alongside Kaeli Wynn and Kelsi Andrews. Ranked No. 5 in the Class of 2026 by ESPN, she is expected to sign in the spring.
When asked what stood out about Staley, Robinson did not hesitate, going as far as revealing what she expected as an outcome of working with her.
“Absolutely. I think Dawn stays a dog,” Robinson said. “She did it as a coach. She did it as a player, and she told me she was going to add me and not take away. She believed in me and my goals, and she told me she was going to get me there. So I’m ready to play for Dawn. I’m there to go to college to soak it all in, to be the best pro I can be. So she’s going to prepare me to do that. Whether it be reading screens, making plays off the ball, movement off the ball, everything.”

Robinson arrives in South Carolina with significant momentum. At Sierra Canyon, she became the school’s all-time leading scorer, surpassing JuJu Watkins, and led her team to a CIF Southern Section Open Division title.
She put up 32 points and 12 rebounds in the championship game against Ontario Christian and finished the season averaging 21.7 points, 8.4 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.5 steals. She is also a finalist for the Naismith High School Player of the Year award.
Her scoring ability fills a real need for the Gamecocks, with guards Raven Johnson and Taniya Latson both graduating. Staley will likely expect Robinson to contribute right away.
Robinson chose South Carolina over LSU and UConn, and her campus visit played a big role in the decision, as it confirmed what she had already sensed about the program’s fit for her goals.
“My visit was amazing. It was way better than I could have imagined,” Robinson said. “But I think super importantly was authenticity between me and Dawn. I told her my goals. I have the highest expectations out of myself, and she maxed that out with me.”
