The USC Trojans took on the Mississippi State Bulldogs in the Round of 32 in the women's NCAA tournament. In dominating fashion, the Trojans emerged victorious with a commanding 96-59 win.

However, tragedy struck midway through the first quarter when their star player, JuJu Watkins, suffered a devastating injury.

As she was driving to the basket on a fast-break opportunity, she fell to the ground, immediately clutching her right leg in visible agony. The scene was gut-wrenching, both for Watkins and for fans watching in disbelief.

It is now official that Watkins has torn her ACL, and will need surgery according to ESPN's Shams Charania.

Per the report, the injury will sideline the USC Trojans superstar for the remainder of the season and will require surgery.

This is a brutal blow for JuJu and USC, putting their promising start to the tournament in jeopardy without their X-factor on the court. Being the No. 1 seed, they have plenty of weapons, but being without someone like Watkins takes a significant blow in all places on the court.

This season, Watkins showcased her dominance across the board, leading the Trojans in points, assists, and steals, while ranking third in rebounds. Her absence leaves a massive void in both leadership and production—a challenge USC must now navigate as they fight for the national championship.

USC will look to their Senior forward Kiki Iriafen, who stepped up with an extraordinary 36-point outburst against Mississippi State, to lead the charge.

The Trojans now have until Saturday to gear up for their Sweet 16 battle against No. 5 Kansas State. The basketball world will be eagerly awaiting news about Watkins' recovery, but for now, her team must carry her spirit onto the court and play for their star.

Prayers up for JuJu Watkins and a speedy recovery, as everyone looks forward to seeing her back on the court, ready to dominate once again.
