JuJu Watkins and the No. 2 USC Trojans proved to be one of the best women's college basketball teams during the 2024-25 regular season, finishing with a 26-2 record and 17-1 in Big Ten play.
After securing the Big Ten regular season championship in the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament, USC was back in action on Friday, facing the Indiana Hoosiers at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Watkins' first Big 10 tournament game.
Coming into the game, Watkins had recorded 1,604 career points, sitting just outside the top ten in USC women's basketball history. In the first quarter alone, the sophomore guard was able to score eight points, three of which were layups.
In doing so, Watkins has now moved past former USC guard Briana Gilbreath-Butler (1,608) and into the top ten for most points scored in Trojans history.
USC announced the historic news with a post on X.
"With 8 points in first quarter, JuJu has now moved into the Top 10 of the USC all-time career scoring list!"

If Watkins and the Trojans can continue to win during March Madness, she could move up even further on the program's all-time scoring list. Just ahead of her are former forwards Paula McGee (1,663) and Ebony Hoffman (1,687). Cheryl Miller holds the school record with 3,018 career points.
An even more impressive fact about Watkins' new accomplishment is that she is the only player in the top ten to play two seasons with USC. The other nine played three or four years. For her two-year career, Watkins is averaging 25.9 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists.
The winner of the USC and Indiana game will move on to the conference tournament quarterfinals, where they will face either the Maryland Terrapins or the Michigan Wolverines.
