Notre Dame star Hannah Hidalgo put on a show Friday with a historic triple-double in a 67-64 Sweet 16 victory over Vanderbilt.
Hidalgo put up 31 points, 11 rebounds, 10 steals and seven assists in what was nearly a quadruple-double. In the first half alone, she snagged seven steals to pass Lamar legend Chastadie Barrs for the most steals in a single season with 192 and counting.
The Fighting Irish needed every bit of Hidalgo’s defensive prowess against the Commodores. As the reigning ACC Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, she has put together one of the greatest defensive seasons we have ever seen.
Notre Dame is now set for an Elite 8 matchup against the winner of Friday’s UNC-UConn matchup.
