Strengths

Ball skills and polished technique go a long way at the cornerback position, and Morrison checks both of those boxes with ease. He’s got smooth, fluid hips to match receivers in their route transitions, and he uses his hands effectively at the catch point to make things difficult for the opponent. He has a knack for making big plays when the ball comes his way, snagging nine career interceptions in less than three full seasons. Many of those big plays come thanks to his impressive spatial awareness, which allows him to read the entire field and react to the quarterback, as he’s willing to break off his initial assignment to close on the ball. 

Weaknesses

The biggest question marks with Morrison will be straight-line speed and physicality. He doesn’t have the long speed or acceleration to recover from missteps or hang with the fastest receivers when they stretch the field vertically, and he can struggle to win in press-man coverage against bigger, tougher receivers. That lack of physicality also shows up in the run game, where Morrison has been an inconsistent tackler who allows too many extra yards after contact. Morrison’s draft stock could be impacted by his recovery from a season-ending hip injury in 2024.

Final Analysis

When fully healthy, Morrison’s tape shows a refined technician with impressive instincts and ball skills who can create splash plays when the ball comes his way. He’s not the most physical cover man, nor the most reliable tackler, so there’s still plenty of room for him to grow into a more complete player at the next level, but his areas of strength give him enough upside to bank on in the early rounds.
