Alabama football’s chances to make playoff drop after beating Auburn, according to ESPN’s FPI

Alabama football’s playoff chances went down a few percentage points after Alabama defeated Auburn.

The Crimson Tide’s chances to reach the playoff is now 66 percent, according to ESPN’s Football Power Index. This is a drop from the approximate 68 percent chance the Tide previously had. This percentage gives No. 10 Alabama the tenth best chances to make the 12-team field.

Every team ranked above Alabama in the playoff rankings have at least an 83 percent chance to make the playoff.

Alabama is set to take on Georgia in the SEC Championship game. A loss to the Bulldogs could keep Alabama out the playoff, and this is something Kalen DeBoer feels will ‘blow’ his mind.

“We’re 7-1 in the SEC, and I mean that would blow my mind, but I know what you’re getting at,” DeBoer said after Alabama beat Auburn. “That’s crazy, and I’m not saying your question is crazy, but just that would be unreal. We’re 10-2 and 7-1 in the SEC with all these ranked wins and again, like, some wins on the road. We got more than a playoff-caliber football team. There’s not a question in my mind.”
