Alabama Star Among the Top Defensive Line Prospects in 2026 NFL Draft

For years, Nick Saban had the Alabama Crimson Tide rolling as a factory for producing top-tier NFL talent. Over 45 of Saban's former players, including multiple defensive line players, were drafted in the first round.

Head coach Kalen DeBoer is attempting to continue Saban's elite output with seven Tide players going in this April's draft. However, just one of those players was from the defensive line, and two were from the linebacker position.

That could change in next year's draft as Pro Football Focus named Alabama defensive lineman LT Overton to its top 10 defensive line prospects to know in the 2026 NFL Draft.

The Texas A&M transfer led the Alabama defense with nine quarterback hurries in 2024 and finished with three tackles for loss and a pair of sacks. The former five-star recruit chose to remain in college for another year instead of entering the draft this season, where he was projected to be selected.

This is common for multiple players that will suit up for the Crimson Tide's defense in 2025, as linebacker Deontae Lawson, cornerback Domani Jackson, safety Keon Sabb, and others had the option to enter the draft but chose to return.

It's a defense that hopes to make the jump from solid to elite in its second year under defensive coordinator Kane Wommack. During the 2024 season, Alabama's defense was ranked No. 9 in points per game allowed and No. 24 in total yards per game allowed, but was No. 52 in rush yards allowed per game.

Overton taking another step this fall will not only help Alabama in its quest to return to the College Football Playoff, but will also continue to elevate the star's rising draft stock.
