Florida State is a football program with a rich history. The Seminoles hold three national championships, with the most recent coming in 2013, led by Jameis Winston.
During his three-year career, Winston amassed 72 total touchdowns, with just seven of those coming on the ground. He tallied an incredible amount of stats in his two years as a starter, which left him as the school's third-highest all-time touchdown leader.
After Florida State's matchup against LSU, quarterback Jordan Travis has now passed Winston for the third spot on the all-time touchdowns list with 75 total touchdowns in his career. Travis filled up the box score, putting up five touchdowns against LSU - with four in the air and one on the ground. He added 342 yards in the air and 38 yards on the ground to make for a great game to break Jameis' record.
However, this isn't indicative of what the two did for Florida State. Winston won a National Championship and Heisman in his first year, and led the team to a College Football Playoff appearance in his second year, which happened to be the inaugural season for the playoffs.
On the other hand, Travis is headed into his sixth season at the college level and fifth with the Seminoles. Of course, his first two seasons didn't have much to speak for, and he's seen rapid improvements since the arrival of Mike Norvell.
With that being said, Travis has the potential to issue a statement to the nation this season. As seen with his Week 1 performance en route to an upset against No. 5 LSU, Travis has the weapons needed to put together a Heisman-level season. The numbers will be there, and the path to a potential College Football Playoffs looms large.
There's a chance Travis will be able to exit the Seminoles as an all-time great if he's able to put together a season the team has the potential to have.
