Even on a day when Texas football won, it still somehow found a way to lose. Early Friday morning, the Longhorns faced off against the Kansas State Wildcats.

Given the embarrassing run that Texas had been on since the Oklahoma game, nobody was expecting much out of Steve Sarkisian and Co. Shockingly, the Longhorns found a way to play decently throughout and eventually pulled off a 22-17 victory.

Unfortunately, the celebrations didn’t last long.

As it turns out, midway through Friday’s game, Lewisville High School four-star wide receiver prospect Armani Winfield opted to decommit from Texas.

Given the program's regression, youngsters can hardly be faulted for approaching the program with caution. Will the Longhorns eventually at some point be able win back the trust and minds of young recruits across the nation? Time will tell.

But for now, clearly the program has a lot of work to do in that regard.
