The Kentucky Wildcats faced the Texas Longhorns on Saturday night but came up short once again in a season filled with struggles and frustration, losing 16-13 in overtime despite controlling the game from the opening kick.
Cutter Boley passed for 258 yards on 31 completions in just his 5th career start. Kentucky came up short in a game where drives weren’t sustainable and questionable playcalling reared its ugly head both in the first half and especially overtime.
One encouraging takeaway from this season has been the notable development of Boley and the steady improvement in his performance.
He completed an impressive 31 of 39 passes for 258 yards, though he did have one interception. Additionally, his ability to move with the ball significantly challenged the Longhorns’ defense, highlighted by a 16-yard touchdown run late in the game that tied the score at 10.
Cutter Boley is thoroughly outplaying Arch Manning and it’s not particularly close.

Cutter Boley played like a top SEC quarterback tonight, but that is going to be overlooked by one of the most frustrating losses of the Stoops era.

Throughout the season, the Brad White unit on the defensive side of the ball has faced criticism.
This particular night, they emerged as the best unit on the field, showcasing a remarkable improvement since the season began.
Texas managed to score only field goals in the first half and a single touchdown in the entire second half, a testament to the unit’s growth, as they held the Longhorn offense to just 176 total yards.
Kentucky's defense tonight held Texas to just

5/16 on 3rd down

those guys routinely get let down every week man it's getting tiring
It comes down to two things for Kentucky football:

– Special Teams again wasn't great
– Kentucky's offense again will not score touchdowns when the defense does it all #BBN
Props to the defense. One of the best games they’ve played all season long.
The tendency to play conservatively is becoming frustrating for fans in Lexington, Kentucky. A few times in the first half, it felt like a repeated pattern.
As halftime approached, the Wildcats were trailing 7-0 and moved the ball to the 35-yard line with only a few seconds left. Instead of going for a touchdown, Mark Stoops decided to bring in the field goal kicker.
Unfortunately, the kick missed, and Texas went into halftime with a 7-0 lead, rather than a potentially closer 4-point game.
In the early moments of the game, Kentucky had another opportunity following a scramble by Boley. A quarterback sneak attempt was unsuccessful, and on fourth down, they handed the ball off to running back Dante Dowdell. Unfortunately, he was pushed back, and the first drive came to a halt.
Overtime unfolded, and it was a moment that will be etched in the Stoops era, marked by controversial calls.
Despite wide receiver Kendrick Law’s breakthrough and reaching the three-yard line, Kentucky faced a daunting task against one of the best defenses in college football, and their four attempts up the middle were thwarted.
Same story every week, same result.
The one thing that drives Kentucky football is the fans, and right now, the noise is deafening, and the fever pitch is at an all-time high. Many fans are calling for Stoops and the staff to be fired, with some even wearing “Fire Stoops” shirts to games.
It’s a complete disaster, and right now, I’m not sure this staff can turn things around.

"I want to thank the fans that have supported us through some tough times… I understand the position I put people in to make a decision (to attend), and that's on me."

It has been nearly two full years since Kentucky football last won an SEC home game. The fans are growing weary; they continue to show up, but the results keep being the same.
Show up or stay home and let the empty seats speak.
Next week, the Tennessee Volunteers come to town after losing to the Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday evening.
The question remains: how will the Wildcats respond? With Kentucky sitting at 0-4 in the SEC, the season is on the brink. The uncertainty of Stoops’ future adds an extra layer of intrigue to the upcoming game. It’s a situation that needs to be figured out, or else…
