The Auburn Tigers emerged unsurprisingly victorious on Saturday over the South Alabama Jaguars with a final score of 31-15. Jackson Arnold scored another three touchdowns. Jeremiah Cobb dominated on the ground once again. Unfortunately the only other real goal of the week for Auburn–besides winning–was a bit of a failure.
What was that goal? Stay as healthy as possible ahead of SEC play. Unfortunately, Auburn has a few new injuries now that need to get right ahead of Week 4's game against Oklahoma.
The Tigers could have faced worse injuries on Saturday, but star wide receiver Eric Singleton, emerging defensive line talent Amaris Williams, and cornerback Jay Crawford all got dinged up against South Alabama.
Williams, who had become the ultimate "any-gap" weapon on the defensive front in the first two weeks, separated his shoulder in the game and "it went right back in". Shoulder separations or dislocations can be rough, often accompanied by varying degrees of labrum tears. We'll have to wait to hear more from Hugh Freeze and the Auburn staff on a real timeline for his return and injury severity.
Jay Crawford's knee-to-knee contact that forced him out of the game is also completely up in the air in terms of severity. Auburn really needs all their corners healthy against Oklahoma next week.
Then finally, Eric Singleton suffered a hip pointer. Depending on the severity, that could mean Singleton is fine and back next week. If more severe, it could mean he misses multiple weeks.
Auburn injuries from the South Alabama game:

- DE Amaris Williams separated his shoulder, but "it went right back in" so that will have to be monitored
- CB Jay Crawford went knee-to-knee with an opponent and had to leave
- WR Eric Singleton Jr. suffered a hip pointer
Auburn fans might not all be familiar with how important Amaris Williams has been becoming for the Tigers defense, but he's been an excellent havoc creator–even if he isn't an every down player. Crawford is perhaps the best cornerback on the team. Eric Singleton might be the most important injury to monitor though.
At one point against South Alabama, quarterback Jackson Arnold was six for six on targets to Eric Singleton. Ultimately he missed on at least one shot, but even then Singleton hauled the ball in out of bounds (as can be seen below).

All three injured players (and others who already missed the South Alabama game) need to get healthy if Auburn wants to maintain momentum with SEC play kicking off next week against Oklahoma . The running back room needs to get fully healthy too with Durell Robinson still out (due to his freak thigh issue), Damari Alston struggling with his shoulder, and Jeremiah Cobb battling through a broken hand.
The good news is that the Sooners will be missing a couple players too (and their best defender for the first half due to a targeting penalty). Still, Auburn is facing far too many minor injuries early.
