Utah has bolstered its receiving corps with the addition of former Cal wide receiver Tobias Merriweather, who announced his commitment to the Utes on Monday.
Merriweather, listed at 6-foot-5, 205 pounds, brings size and experience to Salt Lake City, having previously played at Notre Dame and Cal.
Merriweather began his collegiate career with the Fighting Irish, where he appeared in 19 games over two seasons, recording 15 receptions for 325 yards and three touchdowns.

He transferred to Cal for the 2024 season but was sidelined for the first eight games due to a leg injury.
Upon returning, he played in the final five games, tallying 11 catches for 125 yards and one touchdown, including a standout performance against Wake Forest with six receptions for 52 yards and a score.
At Utah, Merriweather joins a receiving unit that has seen several additions through the transfer portal, including Larry Simmons from Southern Miss, Otto Tia from Utah State, Justin Stevenson from Wyoming, and Creed Whitmore from Mississippi State.
His commitment marks the fifth spring transfer portal addition for the Utes, as they continue to strengthen their roster ahead of a pivotal 2025 season.
Head coach Kyle Whittingham has emphasized the need to enhance his group of pass catchers, as the Utes are hoping to turn around their disappointing entrance into the Big 12, after going 5-7 in 2024.
With an entirely revamped offense, all centered around one of the most explosive players in the country last year, Utah has reason to believe there are big offensive changes coming.
