There isn't a single team in all of college football who is hotter on the recruiting trail than the Florida Gators.
Head coach Billy Napier has been relentlessly attacking recruiting, and it's paying major dividends. They landed the commitment of four-star running back Carsyn Baker out of Georgia, who ws just the second out of state commitment for the Gators. Saturday morning, Napier landed the second wide receiver commitment and third out of the state of Florida of the 2026 recruiting cycle in Marquez Daniel from Booker T. Washington in Alabama.

It's a big win for Napier and the Gators, as Auburn was seen to be the leader for a while. However, the Gators were able to get him thanks to quality control staffer Chad Lucas, who also went to Booker T. Washington.
At Booker T. Washington, Daniel has broken receiving records previously held by Chad Lucas, a former Alabama State standout who went on to play in the NFL. Lucas, now a quality control staffer at Florida, played a significant role in Daniel’s recruitment.
“Him and my mom went to school with each other,” Daniel said. “He talks to her a lot.”
It was Lucas who delivered Daniel’s Florida offer last spring during a visit to Gainesville for the 2024 Orange & Blue Game.
Daniel, who is 6'5 and 187 lbs, is the 24th-ranked wide receiver and 162nd ranked recruit nationally. He complements four-star wide receiver Justin Williams, who is a smaller player that had both 1,000 yards receiving and rushing. The Gators needed some size on the outside moving forward, and Daniel projects to be an X-receiver.
Beinf from Alabama, Daniel could end up being a key component in convincing five-star wide receiver Cederian Morgan to commit to Florida.
This is the ninth commitment that the Gators have secured and Napier continues to make waves in recruiting.
