Boomer Esiason suggests Clemson coronavirus outbreak is on purpose

As of the last Monday in June, at least 37 Clemson football players have tested positive for the coronavirus as the team prepares for a college football season currently scheduled to begin in late August.

Former NFL quarterback Boomer Esiason thinks the outbreak may not be accidental.

Esiason gave his thoughts on the matter during Monday's "Boomer & Gio" show that airs on WFAN in New York and on the CBS Sports Network:

"Are they trying to herd immunity their teams so these guys can get sick now as opposed to getting sick during the college football season, if, in fact, there is one?" Esiason asked about programs such as Clemson, Alabama, Texas Tech, and other universities that have already seen coronavirus outbreaks among student-athletes.

"I'm telling you right now, I wouldn't put it past any of those guys," Esiason added.

"I think it's going on. The numbers coming out of Alabama, LSU, Clemson, all these teams. It's too much of a coincidence."

Last week, WWE on-air performer Kayla Braxton tweeted that she recently tested positive for COVID-19 a second time. It's currently not known if people can get sick from the coronavirus multiple times across several months.
