Bryce Young on National Championship loss: 'I don't know if I'll ever get over it'

Alabama quarterback Bryce Young has already earned plenty of hardware just a game into his junior season with the Crimson Tide. However, thus far, his ultimate goal of winning a National Championship has eluded him.

In January, Young helped lead Alabama to the title game, where they fell to the Georgia Bulldogs, 33-18. While Young is expected to be a top pick and potentially the No. 1 pick in next year's NFL Draft, the sting of the title game loss remains for the young signal-caller.

"I don't know if I'll ever get over it," Young told ESPN's Alex Scarborough. "When you work so hard for something and you come so close to ultimately fall short, it hurts a lot."

Like any quarterback that finds themselves on the losing end of a big game, there are plays Young wishes he could do over from last year's clash against Georgia. But, Young had an interesting take on how he deals with the disappointment that still resonates from the loss.

"There's a lot of time that I look back at it and regret things that I did and wish I could have plays back," Young added. "But ultimately, you have times where you have to feel it and you have to embrace that feeling of failing. And then after a certain point, you have to flip the switch and you either can let it eat you up or you have to make it constructive."

On Saturday, Young and Alabama steamrolled over Utah State in their season opener, 55-0. As usual, Young was deadly with his arm and legs against Utah State. Young finished 18-for-28 for 195 yards and five touchdowns through the air, adding 100 yards off five carries with a touchdown on the ground.

Young and the No. 1 ranked Crimson Tide look to improve to 2-0 this weekend when they travel to take on the Texas Longhorns.
