Why Alabama's Million Dollar Band wont be traveling to Texas

The Alabama Crimson Tide will be traveling to Texas without their Million Dollar Band for this weekend's showdown against the Longhorns this weekend.

Why is one of the most polarizing college football teams in the country going to be bandless on Saturday? Because of seating arrangements, that's why.

"Due to the seating location and configuration of the visiting institution's ticket allotment at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium, the Million Dollar Band will not make the trip this weekend for the Alabama at Texas football game," Alabama said in a statement to the Tuscaloosa news

According to Alabama's website, the issue is that the SEC has rules that give visitors tickets in both the upper and lower bowls. Big 12 schools like Texas don't allot tickets in the lower bowls, so the visiting bands are tucked up into the upper deck. This move on Texas' part gave way to a controversy between the Longhorns and the LSU Tigers in 2019.

Alabama enters next weekend's game ranked No.1 in the AP poll after winning their season-opener. The unranked Longhorns defeated Louisiana-Monroe in their own opener 52-10.
