Clemson's Cade Klubnik is an intriguing quarterback prospect in the 2026 NFL Draft, with valuable starting experience against top competition. His college tape shows a ton of inconsistency, but the flashes of potential should be enough for a team to take a chance on his upside in the later rounds.
Here's everything NFL fans need to know about Klubnik heading into this year's draft:
Height: 6-2
Weight: 210
Age: 22
Arm talent and athleticism are clear advantages for Klubnik, who throws a pretty deep ball and has the dual-threat ability to challenge opposing defenses on designed runs and scrambles. His quick, compact release and sound mechanics give Klubnik a strong foundation as a passer, and he’s at his best when he’s able to make quick decisions that match his presnap reads and allow him to throw in rhythm. He’s got natural playmaking instincts as a runner, picking up valuable yardage on the ground when his number is called, and he’s able to keep plays alive and escape traffic when the pocket breaks down.
Klubnik is still chasing consistency as a passer, particularly from a mental standpoint. He can struggle when forced to adjust to post-snap changes on the fly, and his mechanics degrade when he’s faced with instant pressure. The same is true for his decision-making, as his challenges with processing speed can lead to poor throws and turnovers instead of just taking a sack or throwing the ball away. If Klubnik wants his rushing ability to remain a key part of his skill set, he might need to add some bulk to ensure durability against NFL defenses.
A five-star recruit coming out of high school, the physical tools are definitely there for Klubnik, but his struggles with the mental side of the game have kept him from living up to those high expectations. The right coaching staff and scheme could eventually help him develop those skills and find consistency with his accuracy and decision-making under pressure, but it’ll take some time and patience for him to develop into starting material at the next level.
