CBS Sports writer Brad Crawford dropped his Big 12 quarterback rankings this week and had Brendan Sorsby in a similar spot to most outlets at No. 9 overall. USA Today also ranked him ninth recently.

The young passer gets to experience a second-straight year in the same system this fall.

"This Texas native was nearly flawless in September last season with 12 touchdown passes and only one interception before the schedule turned into a meat grinder," Crawford wrote. "Sorsby showed he can scoot with 447 yards and nine touchdowns on the ground, a pivotal part of the Bearcats' offensive success."

The dual-threat star ranked 29th nationally in ESPN's QBR metric last season after passing for 2,813 yards, 18 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. He also ran for 447 yards on 4.2 yards per carry (impressive when accounting for 17 sacks) and nine touchdowns.

He sounded confident and healthy at Big 12 Media Days and could play like a top-five Big 12 signal caller in the coming months.
