The wait is finally over. Moments ago, Shedeur Sanders heard his name called in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Sanders had a productive final season of college football, throwing for 4,134 yards with 37 touchdowns. Many analysts thought he'd be a Day 1 pick, and yet, he found himself waiting for a phone call until the fifth round.
ESPN analyst Mel Kiper Jr. was so furious about Sanders' situation that he called out all 32 NFL teams on Friday night.
"I really have nothing to say," Kiper said. "I think it's disgusting. That's all I can say.
"To have a quarterback with the kind of ability he showed under duress, accurate, decision-maker, tough. This to me is about what I think they perceive as cocky or confident? Arrogant or charismatic? Leadership. There’s not gonna be a show. There’s not gonna be a circus with Shedeur Sanders."
Thankfully, Sanders' slide down the draft board has come to an end.
The Cleveland acquired the No. 144 overall pick from the Philadelphia Eagles. They quickly sprinted to the podium to select the talented quarterback Colorado."
Prior to Day 2 of the draft, Sanders said he was going to use his unfortunate situation as fuel to his fire.
"I don't feel like this happened for no reason," Sanders said. "All this is of course fuel to the fire. Under no circumstance - we all know this shouldn't have happened. But we understand, we're on to bigger and better things. Tomorrow's the day. We're going to be happy regardless."
Only time will tell if Sanders makes every other team in the NFL look foolish.
