Unlike his brother Shedeur Sanders, Colorado defensive back Shilo Sanders likely needed an excellent showing at Colorado’s Pro Day to boost his NFL draft stock.
Shilo, who wasn’t invited to participate in the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis back in February, is considered by many scouting services to be a fringe draft prospect, with the consensus being his draft projection is that of a seventh-rounder or an undrafted free agent.
Things did get off to the best start for Shilo after his 40-yard dash time was made public. The 25-year-old safety was clocked at 4.52 and 4.59 seconds on his two attempts, and he even took to social media to call out accounts crediting him with the slower time.
“I drifted. The 1st one was 4.52 idk why yall wouldn’t post that,” Shilo tweeted.

But now it seems there may be some controversy as to whether or not Shilo was timed correctly after his brother Deion Sanders Jr. posted on X that his time was actually faster than what was being reported, and he even stated he had proof.
“The Scouts I was by had 4.47… a few of them. I’ll post it on the YouTube,” Sanders Jr. wrote.

Whether or not Shilo ran a 4.47 or a 4.52 likely doesn’t matter much in terms of affecting his draft stock, it does actually have some pretty big personal implications for the All-SWAC safety.
Shilo’s father, Colorado head coach Deion Sanders, promised to buy his son a new car if he ran a 4.4 or better in the 40-yard dash.
“[I told him] if he ran a 4.4 he was going to get a car,” Deion said. “He ran a 4.52, he did not get the car. [Instead I’ll give him] a hug.”
If Sanders Jr.’s claims are true, Shilo’s hopes of getting a new ride on his father’s dime might still be alive.
