Deion Sanders shocked the world in April 2025 when he revealed his cancer diagnosis. The Colorado Buffaloes head coach sadly joined a list of former NFL players who dealt with the frightening disease, including iconic wide receiver Randy Moss.
He underwent surgery and spent some time away from the public eye in his Texas property, which sparked speculation about his health.
As he prepares for a new college football season, Sanders offered an update on his health.
In an interview with “Good Morning America,” Deion Sanders shared happy news about his health.
“I got my life back,” Sanders said. “I got my swagger back.”
Several years ago, blood clots attacked him, which resulted in the amputation of multiple toes. The disease returned last year, resulting in an aspiration thrombectomy procedure in his left leg.
“I’m cancer free. I’m good,” Sanders said. “Great doctors in Colorado that [have] brought me through. God has brought me through. I’m thankful, I’m healthy. I got my swagger back. Like, I’m ready to go, coach my butt off. And I’m having a good time.
“But early detection was key getting on it early, because you know amputation, so they were checking for something else and stumbled upon this. So early detection helped me out tremendously.”
Sanders prepares to take on a new challenge in front of the Buffaloes. They can bounce back after a disappointing 2025 campaign.
