Deion Sanders Shows True Character Immediately After Colorado-Georgia Tech

Deion Sanders and his Colorado Buffaloes got off to a disappointing start to the 2025 season, losing to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 27-20.

There were plenty of concerns surrounding the Buffaloes entering the game, especially as they started a new era without their best player in Travis Hunter and quarterback Shedeur Sanders. Unfortunately, with the loss, they left with more questions than answers.

Aside from Sanders' questionable clock management that was highly criticized by viewers after the game, the Buffaloes' inability to take advantage of Georgia Tech's mistakes early in the game was also a major talking point.

Georgia Tech had three turnovers to start the contest, but it only resulted in one touchdown for the Buffaloes. Colorado also had no answer for Yellow Jackets QB Hayne King, who scored all three rushing touchdowns for his team, including the game-winning 45-yard touchdown run with a little over a minute to go.

Deion Sanders Keeps It Classy Despite Ugly Loss

While some would expect to see Sanders frustrated after the defeat, the NFL legend kept his composure and even made sure to show his respect to his Georgia Tech counterpart in Brent Key.

After the game, Sanders was seen sharing a hug with Key in the middle of the field.

For what it's worth, Sanders has shown nothing but admiration for Key and his Georgia Tech squad even prior to the game. In fact, he specifically pointed out how "well-coached" the team is, which speaks volumes of Key's ability.

"First of all, they're well-coached, fundamentally sound, don't make many mistakes, physical. They can run the ball," Sanders shared on "Coach Prime's Playbook" during the build-up for the showdown.

Should Deion Sanders and Colorado Buffaloes Be Concerned?

The postgame moment aside, Colorado's loss in what was a winnable game certainly raises plenty of doubts about their season.

Sanders, however, emphasized in his postgame presser that he's not worried. He also pointed out that they had legitimate opportunities during the game, which is an encouraging sign as they try to remain competitive with a new-look squad.

"We're definitely going to be fine, I'm not concerned about that," Sanders said, per ESPN. "We could have won that game. It's not like we got our butts kicked. They ran the heck out of the ball, they did that, but we had opportunities."
