There is already hype growing around Shedeur Sanders' preseason play for the Cleveland Browns, but the Colorado Buffaloes are focused on replacing the quarterback.
And head coach Deion Sanders indicated the Buffaloes could have their man in the form of Kaidon Salter.
The four-star recruit, who, per On3, has a NIL valuation of $404,000, transferred to Colorado from the Liberty Flames for his senior year after demonstrating his dual-threat prowess across four years in Lynchburg, Va.
Salter threw for 5,889 yards and 56 touchdowns in his time with Liberty, while tossing just 17 interceptions. In addition, he ran for 2,006 yards and 21 touchdowns, with 1,089 coming in a spectacular 2023 season in which he led Liberty to the Conference USA title and a Fiesta Bowl appearance. Salter was named Conference USA MVP.
While Salter hasn't officially been named as Colorado's starter, Sanders gave him a glowing review as the Buffaloes aim to build on a 9-4 2024 campaign.
"Kaidon is a guy with multiple talents," Sanders said, per Rivals.
"He can throw the football. He can run the heck out of the football. Sometimes in practice, you don’t get a chance to see how good he is because when you run the quarterback, you know we can’t hit him.
“But, you can see the burst, the speed, the knowledge of reading the defenses, and then he pulls it and keeps it. The kid is going to cause havoc. I’m just telling you.
“It’s going to be a totally different type of offense, kind of which from what you’ve seen us do in the past, because we had a guy that could spin it tremendously. But don’t underestimate his throwing ability.
"We just want him to complete every darn pass he throws in practice and get in a habit of completions, completions, completions, because we know he can run. But, when he gets that second part down, it’s going to be a problem, a tremendous problem for all defenses."
