ESPN's Updated College Football Rankings Make No Sense Whatsoever

The regular season in the college football world has officially concluded, following Week 14, otherwise known as rivalry week.

After Week 14 concluded, ESPN revealed its updated Football Power Index (FPI) rankings.

The ESPN FPI is a computer generated system that calculates rankings based on strength schedule, offensive efficiency, defensive rating and other specialized data points inside in the white lines.

In the updated rankings, there are some quite questionable decisions made by the system.

Ohio State, Indiana, Notre Dame and Oregon all maintained their positions, ranked No. 1 to No. 4 in the rankings.

After that came chaos.

Georgia fell two spots after defeating Georgia Tech in Week 14. The Texas A&M Aggies, who many thought would plummet, fell just one spot after losing to the Texas Longhorns in rivalry week.

Texas' ranking was also a head scratcher. They fell in the rankings, despite handing the Aggies their first loss of the season.

Texas headed into Week 14 with a must-win mindset. Another loss for the Longhorns would have forced them out of contention for the College Football Playoff.

They were able to pull off the upset and defeat Texas A&M, 27-17. Arch Manning led the way with one touchdown and 179 yards. Manning also added one touchdown and 53 yards on the ground.

Georgia escaped Week 14 with a 16-9 victory over Georgia Tech. For the second straight year, the Bulldogs were playing with fire.

They're now getting set to play the Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game, despite a bump down the rankings in the ESPN FPI.

Several other questionable calls made by ESPN were Oklahoma falling two spots after defeating LSU and Michigan falling just one spot after getting blown out by Ohio State during rivalry week.
