Florida Blue-Chip Commit Makes Roster for Elite Talent Showcase

The Florida Gators recently took a recruiting hit, losing two commits.

Four-star linebacker Izayia Williams flipped to the Ole Miss Rebels, and four-star safety Devin Jackson decommitted from the Gators.

However, quarterback Will Griffin is the one commit in Florida's 2026 recruiting class who has stood firm. On Saturday, On3 Sports announced Griffin as one of the players on the Elite 11 Finals roster.

NFL stars Andrew Luck, CJ Stroud, Matthew Stafford, Trevor Lawrence, Carson Palmer, and others attended the event as recruits.

This year's event, which is being held in Los Angeles, California, features the top quarterbacks from the 2026 class.

Griffin is rated as a four-star prospect and the No. 17 quarterback in the On3 Industry Rankings. Has been committed to head coach Billy Napier and Florida since June 1 of last year.

Griffin is an in-state product, hailing from Jesuit in Tampa, Florida. He is listed at 6-foot-2.5, 225 pounds.

The Gators' only other commit from the 2026 class is three-star defensive lineman Jamir Perez. Perez announced his pledge to Florida on May 18.

In recent recruiting news, Florida has been named a finalist for two elite prospects in the 2026 class. On Thursday, the Gators made the top five for four-star defensive lineman Nolan Wilson.

Florida was also named a finalist for four-star edge rusher Luke Wafle.

Napier recently secured his first winning season and bowl win since taking the Florida job in 2022. His first bowl appearance was in 2022 after a 6-6 finish, but the Gators lost to the Oregon State Beavers 30-3 in the Las Vegas Bowl.

Florida finished the season at 8-5 after taking down Tulane 33-8 in the Gasparilla Bowl.

Napier and company open the 2025 season against Long Island on August 30.
