The Florida Gators have had an outstanding month in terms of earning verbal commitments from top players in the 2026 class.
On Wednesday, Florida landed another elite four-star recruit, this time in the form of cornerback CJ Bronaugh , following his decommitment from the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
Florida now has 13 hard commits for the 2026 class, headlined by Bronaugh and fellow fringe five-star prospects Marquez Daniel and
Justin Williams. However, it has not all been smooth sailing for Billy Napier's squad, with one top talent opting to take his talents to another SEC school.
On the same day Bronaugh committed to Gainesville, Florida, four-star offensive tackle Ekene Ogboko verbally committed to the University of Georgia. The massive six-foot-six, 280-pound lineman picked Georgia after taking his visit to Athens in early June. He had previously visited Florida in May.
One of the top offensive tackle recruits in the country for the 2026 class, Ogboko, held an offer from Florida since early 2023. His decision to join Georgia over Florida could have been influenced by the trajectory of the Gators' 2026 recruiting class.
Among their 13 hard commits, four are offensive linemen, all of whom project as tackles at the next level. Three-star recruits Tyler Chukuyem, Chancellor Campbell, and Javarii Luckas all match Ogboko in size, standing at six-foot-five or higher.
Despite the failed addition of Ogboko, 247Sports ranks Florida as having the 13th-best recruiting class for the 2026 cycle. This year, following their first winning season under head coach Billy Napier, they will usher in the ninth-ranked class, with blue-chip wide receiver prospects Vernell Brown III and Dallas Wilson eyeing playing time as true freshmen.
