The injury happened the night before his on-field testing. He performed a partial workout not knowing the extent of the injury. The fracture of the fourth metatarsal was surgically…
Widely regarded as one of the top interior defensive line prospects in the 2026 NFL Draft class, Banks had a strong performance during this year's Senior Bowl practices, and had played himself into first-round consideration.
Banks missed time during the Gators' 2025 season with a foot injury, and his tape showed some inconsistencies and technical proficiency that will need to be ironed out by NFL coaches.
With rare athleticism for his size, and impressive overall physical traits, Banks brings a ton of potential to the next level. It remains to be seen just how much this injury will impact his draft status, but it could give teams pause about spending a first-round pick on a player who is dealing with yet another foot injury.
I projected Banks to land with the Kansas City Chiefs at the No. 29 overall pick in the first round of my latest mock draft, but this injury could easily push him into the second round. With other interior defensive line prospects graded in a similar range (Clemson's Peter Woods, Texas Tech's Lee Hunter, Ohio State's Kayden McDonald), it wouldn't be surprising to see this development slip Banks down the board and into Day 2.
