After a dominating 33-8 Gasparilla Bowl win over Tulane, the Florida Gators are still hot on the recruiting trail.
Heading into the bowl game, head coach Billy Napier secured a huge commitment from top transfer portal prospect wide receiver J. Michael Sturdivant and flipped five-star wide receiver Dallas Wilson from the Oregon Ducks. Even with those commitments, the Gators aren't done trying to fortify the wide receiver room.
There haven't been the super high-profile names in the transfer portal like there have been in past years, but there are still really talented players. The Gators hosted one of those over the weekend in Texas wide receiver Johntay Cook. They sent out the big guns with superstar quarterback DJ Lagway spending time with Cook.

Cook was a four-star recruit out of DeSoto, Texas who committed to the Longhorns in the 2023 recruiting class. He was expected to be an impactful player for the Longhorns but struggled to see the field with the transfer portal receivers that were ahead of him.
He suited up 20 times for the Longhorns, catching 16 passes for 273 yards and two touchdowns over his first two seasons. Cook has already visited the Washington Huskies and could be making more visits before making a decision.
If Cook were to choose Florida, he would join a very talented wide receiver room that has Sturdivant, Wilson and returning star Trey Wilson on it. That would give Lagway a lot of talented weapons on the outside to work with.
Cook has two years of eligibility remaining.
