Florida Gators HC Billy Napier lands massive recruit to protect DJ Lagway
Doug Engle/Gainesville Sun

The 2026 recruiting class for the Florida Gators has been heating up over the last few weeks, with head coach Billy Napier hosting multiple recruits on official visits over the weekend. Going into the weekend, the Gators had just four recruits committed to the program:

  • Four-star S Kaiden Hall
  • Four-star QB Will Griffin
  • Three-star OL G'Nivre Carr
  • Three-star DT Jamir Perez

Going into the month of May, the Gators had just Griffin and Perez committed, but Napier has shifted his focus and continues to make an impact in recruiting.

Sunday afternoon brought the Gators their fifth commitment of the 2026 cycle, and it's a massive one in three-star offensive tackle Chancellor Campbell.

Campbell is the fourth recruit from the state of Florida to commit to Napier's squad for the 2026 season and beyond. He currently ranks as the 33rd offensive tackle and 64th best recruit in the state of Florida per the On 3 Sports industry ranking. Not only did they secure his commitment, but doing so over the likes of Ohio State, Penn State, and Georgia means you are doing something right.

What's really intriguing about Campbell is the profile he possesses. At 6'8 and 310 lbs with long arms, Campbell is the prototype of tackle that Napier has been targeting as of late. When you have that kind of size, it gives you certain advantages that other tackles don't have. Length is a major plus for Campbell, and he uses it well to keep defenders at bay.

This is the second offensive lineman in the class for Napier's Gators, with Carr also being on the interior. Look for Napier to add anywhere from 2-5 more offensive linemen in the 2026 class to fortify a group that is primed to lose four plus starters after the year. Campbell likely won't play in his first year, but he will provide much-needed depth to protect quarterback DJ Lagway.
