The Florida Gators Orange and Blue spring game has completed with Blue beating Orange by a score of 38-32.

The game itself wasn't televised and didn't include star quarterback DJ Lagway, but we did get to see plenty of highlights. The youth on the Gators' roster stood out in a big way. Incoming five-star wide receiver Dallas Wilson was a monster throughout the game, setting or tying multiple records with his 10 reception, 195 receiving yards, and two touchdown performance.

The other big standout from the game was redshirt senior running back Ja'Kobi Jackson.

Ja'Kobi Jackson's excellent performance shows depth at running back

Jackson got the start over emerging star sophomore Jadan Baugh and showed a lot of explosiveness. He only ran the ball 10 times, but had 198 yards and three touchdowns, including one from 90 yards out.

He spoke after the game about his stellar performance, which had him with an astounding 19.8 yards per carry.

“Broke a few tackles, made a little something happen. Pretty exciting,” Jackson said of his third TD. “It was pretty good performance, I would say. My O-line did a great job today and it wasn’t really much I had to do but just run full speed and run straight.”

The running back position is in great hands with Jackson and Baugh, something that head coach Billy Napier emphasized after the game.

“I thought that Ja’Kobi and Jadan both played fast. They were decisive. We covered them up. Really, the plays were made once it got to the secondary, that’s where we had the biggest issues tackling.”

The tackling issues were a big part of why Jackson had such a banner day, but you still have break the tackles, something he did very well.

The Gators offense looks to be in great shape moving forward.
