It's a massive weekend of recruiting for many college football programs, including the Florida Gators. The second day in, Billy Napier has landed a significant commitment from four-star wide receiver Marquez Daniel.
It was a lovely early morning commitment for Napier and the Gators, and a positive start with two days left to impress the on-campus recruits. Daniel committed to Florida over the Auburn Tigers, Tennessee Volunteers, and Arkansas Razorbacks.
According to the On3 Industry Rankings, the Tuskegee, AL native is ranked the No. 24 wide receiver and the No. 9 player in the state. Daniel is also ranked in the top 200 at No. 162.
It also adds to another exciting annoucment from yesterday when running back Carsyn Baker committed. That was following a weekend visit to rivals Florida State Seminoles. He will also be in Gainesville this weekend for an unofficial visit.
Florida is already ranked in the top 20 in the On3 recruiting rankings, and if they can add another one or two commitments during or after this weekend, they could be pushing close to the top ten. Napier and his staff will be looking to impress the likes of No. 2 ranked defensive lineman James Johnson, No. 3 ranked tight end Kaiden Prothro, Ole Miss commit Izayia Williams, and four-star linebacker Malik Morris.
Quarterback and Florida commit Will Griffin is back on campus, and the four-star recruit looks very strong with the program. Billy Napier needs to maintain strong relationships with current commits, a lesson he has learned over the past few seasons. The feeling is Griffin is fully committed to the Florida Gators.
